Ingredients
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
½ tsp baking soda
½ tbsp cornstarch
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt
24 candy cane kisses (unwrapped)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar in a large bowl for 1–2 minutes, until light and fluffy.
3. Add vanilla and egg. Mix until just combined.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together baking soda, cornstarch, flour, and salt.
5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until fully incorporated.
6. Scoop dough using a 1½-inch cookie scoop and place onto the prepared baking sheet.
7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges begin to turn golden brown.
8. Let cookies cool slightly, then press a candy cane kiss into the center of each one.
9. Allow to cool completely before serving or storing.
