Loaded Tater Tot Appetizer.

Some recipes just bring people together and this loaded tater tots recipe is one of them. I’ve made it for birthday parties, movie nights and even just casual family dinners when I didn’t feel like cooking a full meal.

It’s an easy recipe that’s big on flavor. We’re talking hot, crispy tater tots piled high with crispy bacon, warm cheese sauce, cool ranch dressing and a sprinkle of green onions. Seriously, what’s not to love?

Easy Loaded Tots.

The best part about making loaded tater tots is how easy it is to mix things up with your favorite toppings. You can go classic with sour cream, jalapeños, and diced tomatoes for a nacho-style twist, or try something bold like buffalo chicken and blue cheese crumbles for a spicy, tangy punch.

Want to make it heartier? Ground beef or pulled pork will turn this tasty appetizer into a full-blown meal. You can even swap out the cheese sauce for shredded cheddar cheese or pepper jack if that’s what you’ve got in the fridge.

Ingredients

  • 1 (32 oz) package frozen tater tots

  • 8 slices bacon, chopped

  • 1 cup queso

  • ½ cup ranch dressing

  • 2 scallions, thinly sliced

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

2. Spread the frozen tots in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, following the package instructions.

3. While the tater tots are baking, arrange the bacon strips on a separate baking sheet. For best results, use a wire rack on the sheet to allow even cooking.

4. Bake for 15–20 minutes, checking after 12 minutes to prevent overcooking. Once crispy, remove from the oven and let cool slightly before chopping.

5. While the tater tots and bacon are in the oven, heat the queso in a microwave-safe bowl or on the stovetop until hot and pourable, about 2-3 minutes.

6. Slice the scallions and chop the cooled bacon into bite-sized pieces.

7. Transfer the cooked tater tots to a large serving dish.

8. Drizzle the warm queso evenly over the tots.

9. Sprinkle with chopped bacon.

10. Drizzle ranch dressing over the top.

11. Garnish with sliced scallions.

12. Finish with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately while hot and melty.

If you're already a fan of sliders, nachos, or anything that's a tasty appetizer and easy to share, then this loaded tater tots recipe is a great choice. It’s hearty, cheesy and every bite hits that crispy-creamy-salty combo we all crave.
