Pumpkin Patch Chocolate Brownies.

Brownies are my ultimate fall treat because they check all the right boxes. They're quick and easy to make (just grab a brownie mix box for a simple, time-saving shortcut).

They’re also kid-friendly, making them a perfect baking activity to enjoy with little ones who’ll love decorating their own mini pumpkin patches.

And of course, they’re an ideal dessert for Halloween parties, fall gatherings, school events, or even bake sales.

Ingredients

For the Chocolate Brownie:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 4 medium eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup cocoa powder

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

For the Chocolate Ganache Frosting:

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

For the Pumpkin Patch Decoration:

  • 12–15 fresh strawberries

  • 1 cup orange candy melts

  • Fresh mint or basil sprigs (optional, for 'garden vines')

Instructions

Make the Brownie:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper (leave overhang for easy removal). Grease the parchment.

3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar.

4. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.

5. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into wet ingredients until fully combined.

6. Pour the brownie batter into the pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.

8. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Prepare the Ganache:

1. Heat cream in a saucepan until it just simmers. Do not boil.

2. Pour over chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Let sit for 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.

3. Add butter, stir until melted and glossy. Let cool slightly.

Decorate the Cake:

1. Wash and thoroughly dry strawberries.

2. Line a tray with parchment paper.

3. Melt orange candy melts as per package instructions.

4. Dip each strawberry and place it on a tray to set.

5. Remove the brownie from the pan and frost with ganache.

6. Top with dipped strawberries, press gently to secure. Add mint/basil leaves around them.

7. Cut into squares or rectangles. Serve or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Tip: If you’re looking to switch things up or just use what’s in your pantry, there are plenty of fun alternatives to customize your Pumpkin Patch Brownies!

  • Instead of strawberry pumpkins, try using candy pumpkins, pumpkin-shaped marshmallows, or even piped orange buttercream swirls topped with a green icing stem.

  • Not feeling the ganache? A rich chocolate buttercream frosting or even a layer of crushed Oreo crumbs as dirt works perfectly.

  • And for the leafy finishing touches, swap fresh mint leaves for piped green frosting or green licorice vines.
