Ingredients
10 cups of water
¼ cup baking soda
1 package pizza dough
30 little smokies sausages
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons butter, melted
½ teaspoon coarse salt
Instructions
1. In a large pot, combine the water and baking soda and bring to a rolling boil.
2. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Unroll the pizza dough and cut it into 1-inch-wide strips, then cut them into smaller rectangles to wrap around each sausage.
4. Wrap each piece of dough around a sausage, pressing gently to seal and setting aside.
5. Carefully drop the wrapped sausages into the boiling water and boil for 1 minute.
6. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.
7. Whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the egg wash over each pretzel dog.
8. Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
9. Let cool for 5 minutes, then brush with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt.
10. Serve warm.
