Whether you’re baking from scratch or grabbing a pack of biscuits from the shop, these monster cookies are always a hit. They’re scary good, I promise.

If you’re in a hurry, skip the baking. Just grab:
A pack of digestives or rich tea biscuits
Some ready-made or homemade buttercream icing
Any sweets or candy you have lying around
Simply spoon a little buttercream onto each biscuit and start decorating! This is an especially good option for keeping kids busy during the half-term or while prepping for Halloween night.

If you have a bit more time and want that homemade cookie taste, here’s a simple, buttery biscuit recipe:
Ingredients (Makes 16–20 large cookies):
250g butter, softened
140g icing (confectioners') sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg yolk
375g plain (all-purpose) flour
Extra flour for dusting
Method:
Beat the butter and icing sugar until pale and fluffy.
Mix in the vanilla and egg yolk.
Sift in the flour and combine into a dough. Use your hands if needed.
Wrap in cling film and chill for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 190°C / 375°F / Gas Mark 5.
Roll dough to at least ¼ inch thick and cut into circles or shapes.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until lightly golden. Cool completely before decorating.
Soft Buttercream Icing Recipe.
Ingredients:
75g butter, softened
320g icing sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
1-2 drops almond essence (optional)
2-4 tbsp milk
Food coloring gel or paste
Method:
Beat butter and icing sugar until smooth and creamy.
Add vanilla and almond essence.
Add milk a tablespoon at a time until spreadable.
Divide and color as desired.

Use a spoon or butter knife to spread colored buttercream on each biscuit, then start decorating.
